Julie Dabrusin
Julie Dabrusin is a long-time resident and the Member of Parliament for Toronto-Danforth since her election in 2015 who has committed herself to building up strong cities;including work to build a clean energy economy and support small businesses. She brings this perspective to her role as the Parliamentary Secretary to both the Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada and the Minister of Energy and Natural Resource.
Julie has worked on modernizing the Canada Environmental Protection Act, including developing the ban on single-use plastics and building a circular economy that places responsibility on the producers of waste to ensure that their items do not end up in landfill. She is also working on ensuring Canada is well placed to take advantage of the global transition to a low-carbon economy, including shifting to a net-zero electrical grid by 2035. She also works on protecting Canada’s land and waters, with the goal of conservation of 30% by 2030. As a person who cares deeply about animal welfare, she has worked with communities to halt and reverse the loss of biodiversity, including species at risk. Sitting at the nexus of both Environment, Energy and Natural Resources, she has played a key role in positioning Canada as a world partner on green technologies and energy.
