Spiros N. Pollalis is Professor Emeritus of Design, Technology, and Management at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. After graduating from the National Technical University of Athens, he continued his studies in the US and received his PhD from MIT and his MBA from Northeastern University. He has taught as a Visiting Professor at universities in Greece, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland. His research is on urban planning, environment, and regional development, and he has practiced worldwide on sustainability and city planning.

In September 2023, he was appointed President of Athens College, a position he also held from 2010-2017. His second period focuses on educational innovations emphasizing student learning, facilitated after the College’s unique founding law was reinstituted in the summer of 2024. He also established the Center for Data Analytics for evidence-based decisions.

During his previous tenure, he focused on academic and administrative issues, including the Code of Conduct, the IB Diploma Program, the introduction of the PYP and the MYP, the use of technology in education and administration, the extended program in grades 1 and 2, the IC Summer School in English, and re-instated the Fulbright Fellows and re-launched the President’s Award.
